The Distance Learner Scholarship is intended for students who require financial assistance. To be eligible, applicants must be accepted as full-time online degree-seeking students and must be U.S. citizens. The award amounts vary and are determined based on each individual’s financial circumstances.
Scholarship Eligibility
- Transcript: Applicants are required to submit transcripts from their current high school, college, or university to confirm their academic standing. While an unofficial transcript may be included with the Distance Learners Scholarship application, an official transcript must be received by the Louisiana Tech University Office of Admissions before the scholarship deadline.

- GPA Requirement: Maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA at the end of every quarter.
- Enrollment: To be eligible, applicants must be accepted as full-time online degree-seeking students and must be U.S. citizens (Continuous full-time enrollment of at least 8 credit hours per quarter for undergraduate online students or 6 credit hours per quarter for online graduate students. *Excluding Summer Quarter*)
- Financial Aid: Students with an elevated level of financial need are encouraged to apply and cannot have an outstanding debt with Louisiana Tech University.

Application Process
Deadline Compliance: Applicants must submit all required materials by the scholarship deadline. Late submissions are not considered.
- Aug. 1 for each fall quarter; awardees receive funds in September.
- Nov. 1 for each winter quarter; awardees receive funds in December.
- Feb. 1 for each spring quarter; awardees receive funds in March.
Scholarship may need to be renewed every quarter to demonstrate continued enrollment, academic progress, and financial need.

- Essay or Personal Statement: Applicants will need to submit an essay or personal statement explaining their reasons for applying for the scholarship, academic and career goals, and plans after degree completion.
- Submission: Send scholarship application, unofficial transcript(s), and essay or personal statement to OnlineServices@LATech.edu.
