Health Informatics is an interdisciplinary study of the design, development, adoption, and application of IT-based innovations in healthcare services delivery, management, and planning (National Library of Medicine).
Health Informatics professionals utilize technology to enhance and improve communication among healthcare providers, provide information for business-related decisions, and allow patients to effectively participate in the care they receive. This field of study utilizes informatics principles to improve the delivery of healthcare.
Learning Outcomes
Students will be:
- Able to demonstrate leadership in understanding of resources and needs of individuals, teams, communities, and organizations and ensure that health information technology is effectively and efficiently deployed to improve health outcomes.
- Evaluate and manage the electronic health records and implement appropriate ethical and privacy solutions.
- Demonstrate the ability to think critically and work as an effective team player in a specific organizational setting to solve user-centric information and data problems.

Scholarships
Just like on-campus students, Tech Online students may be eligible for admission, departmental, or private scholarships. Louisiana residents may also be eligible for the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) scholarships awarded by the State of Louisiana. Tuition
The Tech Online program is very unique in that there is flat fee per credit hour. There are no additional fees.
Graduate programs cost $475 per credit hour.
